Smart Gilas bids goodbye to London 2012???

I'm a big fan of the national team aka Smart Gilas because of  my one and only TIUperman, Chris Tiu. However, I started to like all the players as I've watched their games in and out of the country and I've never been proud on what they've achieved for the past 3 years that they've been playing together.

I'm more than excited when I've learned that their goal for organizing this national unit is because of the 2012 London Olympics. They've competed in different international leagues as well as local leagues in preparation for the Olympics.

September of this year is the most awaited month for the Gilas team. This is where they can show their hard work, discipline, experience and teamwork for the past 3 years in preparation for the Olympic qualifiers via the FIBA Asia 2011.

The tournament started last September 15, 2011 and the Philippines was placed in Group D with China, UAE, Bahrain. We've lost to China in the 1st round of elimination but we won over UAE and Bahrain to assure us of a spot for the 2nd round of elimination. For the next round, we were  with Japan, Jordan and Syria in Group F. Luckily, we've won all our games to secure a spot for the quarterfinals. Chinese Taipei lost to Smart Gilas in the quarterfinal round and we've been assured of a spot for the semifinals round against Jordan. Truly, our national team gave it all to prove to our counterparts in Asia that we've mean serious business. Unfortunately, just earlier, we've bowed down to Jordan and lost the chance to play on the finals.

After 2 and a half decade, we've clinched the semis and proved our worth. Definitely, there is a future for the Philippine basketball. We just need to work harder and play smarter the next time.

I salute the Smart Gilas national team for doing well in FIBA Asia 2011. We won't be playing for the finals but what the hell, there is still a wildcard round. We just need to place third, that is if Korea will let us. It's another battle for Filipinos tomorrow  but I'm willing to support and cheer them all the way...

K-Drama

I've been religiously following K-Drama (Korean dramas) for almost a decade now. I've started to enjoy watching these dramas way back in 2002, even before Meteor Garden was shown in Philippine TV. I don't even remember how many shows I've watched since then.

I love their dramas because of the variety of their stories. I've enjoyed most of their shows especially those epic dramas  like Jumong, Jewel in the Palace, Queen Seon Deok, Hwang Jini and Sungkyungkwan Scandal. I also love their dramedies like Attic Cat, Full House, My name is Kim Sam Soon and Coffee Prince. I'm not fond of heavy dramas but I was hooked watching Endless Love (Autumn in my Heart), Stairway to Heaven, Baker King and just recently City Hunter.

I really want to thank the people who uploaded and created English subtitled videos on the internet for these dramas. I still have a long list of K-dramas that I've been planning to watch and will surely appreciate and love for the years ahead.

Harry Potter

It's been a great journey for this well-loved character. The books were all bestsellers and its film versions were all blockbusters. For the past 10 years, he has been one of my guilty pleasures. Reading the books from time to time, trying to relive its stories. Been waiting every year for the movie version, wanting to know if the film live up to my expectations. I've been mesmerized with all the characters and their stories, enjoyed their spells and shed buckets of tears all throughout. This has been the best series I've both watched and read.

And now, after watching the final installment of Harry Potter, I know that it's time for me to bid farewell...

...for now.

Temptation Island remake.

I've finally watched this film yesterday and had a good laugh all throughout the movie. My friends and I enjoyed it a lot. I have watched both films and I did not expect that I will like the remake more than the original. Good plot and great comedy acting from the cast esp. Rufa Mae Quinto.

I've read positive and negative reviews before watching the film and personally, I'll give it 4 out of 5 stars. Nicely done.

I'm a certified Kapuso

My friends already knew about this. I'm very vocal in expressing my admiration when it comes to GMA network. I used to join forums on network wars and debated a lot  with friends on the same issue. If my friends just wanted to piss me off then they just need to mention network wars. They've even asked if GMA paid me because I'm really that passionate in expressing my opinions when this kind of topic occured in our conversation.

But I'm way past that stage. I just now enjoy watching all the Kapuso shows. Funny thing about us is we actually know if we are a Kapuso, Kapamilya or Kapatid but we do not know which political party to support.

I grew up watching GMA shows. I remember that every Sunday, while watching GMA Supershow, my lola would cook her specialties for us to enjoy for lunch. Then, while we watch Lovingly Yours, Helen, she'll prepare different meriendas for her grandchildren. I've also enjoyed watching That's Entertainment and different animes every afternoon. Those, indeed, were my most cherished childhood memories with my families and relatives.

Until now, I see to it that I regularly watch Party Pilipinas, Eat Bulaga, their News and Current affair shows and of course, their Dramarama and Telebabad shows.

Thanks GMA network, after all these years...

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2

I'm very excited and sad at the same time for next week's showing of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 (July 14, 2011). I'm a big Harry Potter fan and this series finale meant a lot to me. I've enjoyed reading all the books rather than watching its film version. I remember that I've cried a lot while reading Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows book. I'll try to enjoy this film for the last time. It's been a great decade for Harry Potter fanatics.

Based on the trailer, the film is definitely worth watching.

I'm a Tiunatic!!!

I'm a big fan of Chris Tiu. Words can't express how much I admire this person.I haven't seen him up close and personal and i'm not sure how will I react once I see him. I may scream at the top of my lungs or worse, faint. For now, I'll just enjoy his TV shows, games, endorsements, pictures and videos online!!! Thank you, my Tiuperman for giving me reason to dream and believe that life really has a lot to offer. Thanks for the inspiration.
